Memphis, Tn – Congressman Steve Cohen is making another push to legalize marijuana.

Cohen said in part, “There is no evidence that marijuana has the same addictive qualities or damaging consequences as cocaine, heroin or methamphetamine and should not be treated as such.”

BMW i3 Concept – made with Hemp

By Frank Markus

Between the use of 50 percent recycled aluminum in the chassis and making interior panels and seats out of hemp fibers, recycled water bottles and the like, the lifetime global warming potentialof the fully electric i3 is said to be a third less than that of a similar diesel 1-series hatch. That drops to half if recharged using renewable electricity. The Leipzig plant that will build the i3 will also consume 70 percent less water per vehicle and run on 100 percent renewable energy.

Run From the Cure (Rick Simpson – 2008)

After a serious head injury in 1997, Rick Simpson sought relief from his medical condition through the use of medicinal hemp oil. When Rick discovered that the hemp oil (with its high concentration of THC) cured cancers and other illnesses, he tried to share it with as many people as he could free of charge – curing and controlling literally hundreds of people’s illnesses… but when the story went public, the long arm of the law snatched the medicine – leaving potentially thousands of people without their cancer treatments – and leaving Rick with unconstitutional charges of possessing and trafficking marijuana! Canada is in the middle of a CANCER EPIDEMIC!
This film allows you to meet the individuals who were not allowed to testify on Rick’s behalf at the Supreme Court of Canada’s Infamous Rick Simpson Trial on September 10, 2007…
INCLUDING A MAN WHO WAS CURED OF TERMINAL CANCER USING HEMP OIL! IF YOU SEE ONLY ONE DOCUMENTARY THIS YEAR… MAKE IT THIS ONE!

Gluten-Free Tabouli made with Hemp Seeds

posted by Brigitte Mars

Gluten-Free Tabouli
The bulgur in regular tabouli is cooked and made of wheat. This one’s gluten-free, wheat-free and enzyme rich, of course.
Tabouli
1 cup hempseed
1 cup chopped fresh parsley
1/4 cup chopped fresh spearmint
2 tomatoes, chopped
1 cucumber, chopped
Juice of 1 lemon juice
1 cup hempseed
1/4 cup hempseed oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
Put them all together in a big bowl and mix them all about! Chill before serving for 1/2 hour. (Serves 4-6)
Tabouli Salad is a great way to use colorful antioxidant rich fresh produce. Sunripened tomatoes, cool cukes, sensuous spearmint, and hip hempseed as an alternative to the gluten containing bulgur wheat, which is traditionally used. Hemp can provide omega 3s, protein and vitamin E. The hempseed oil adds a lovely richness that might even win over olive oil aficionados. There is no THC in the hempseed or oil. Try this Mediterranean treat that can be a meal in itself!
For those of you that have never tried Hempseed (Cannabis sativa), it is a member of the Cannabaceae (Hemp) Family and one of the oldest cultivated plants on the planet. Hempseed is really akin to a nutrient dense grain, though it contains no gluten and is not in the Poaceae (Grass) Family that grains like wheat, rye, barley, spelt and kamut fall into. Hempseeds can be useful in special diets where people have intolerances to dairy, soy, corn and gluten, as it is easily tolerated and digestible.

American Presidents and Marijuana Use

By Kwame Atoapem

Before marijuana prohibition began in the late 1930’s, many people,
including some of our US leaders grew cannabis for a variety of
reasons. It’s fairly well known that cannabis has thousands of industrial
uses, and has been grown for thousands of years. While simply growing
cannabis is far from proof that someone smoked it, there is still evidence
showing many would-be U.S Presidents enjoyed it for recreational and
medicinal uses.
George Washington
Washington routinely smoked marijuana to alleviate the pain from his ailing
teeth. Washington’s diary recounts his efforts to better cultivate and
enhance his crops of marijuana.
Thomas Jefferson
Jefferson grew cannabis on his plantation and smuggled Chinese hemp seeds to
America. He also is believed to have given special smoking blends out as
personal gifts which is why he makes the list.
James Madison
Madison once remarked that hemp gave him insight to create a new and
democratic nation.

Super energy-efficient HEMP building exceeds client’s expectations

The Wine Society’s environmental aspirations for its fourth warehouse were two-fold: the building should be highly sustainable, and it should achieve radical reductions in energy consumption compared to its predecessors.
Furthermore, wine is best stored between 13°C and 16°C and will only tolerate slow temperature variations if it is to be maintained in optimum condition.
Vincent and Gorbing’s elegant design solution took account of all these factors. The external walls are constructed of Tradical Hemcrete, framed in innovative wooden cassettes, fixed to the structural steel frame. Hemcrete absorbs energy as external temperatures fluctuate. As they rise, Hemcrete dries out by absorbing energy; as the temperature falls, the reverse happens.
This process necessitated a ‘breathing space’ between the external metal panelling and the Hemcrete cassettes but ensured that internal temperature variations were substantially smaller than those externally.
Over 18 months, the Society and its engineers, MLM, monitored the building’s energy consumption in tandem with internal and external temperatures. The results were impressive: actual energy consumption was 65% less than predicted, with internal temperatures remaining stable within the optimum range.
The savings are dramatic: £15,250 less in annual energy costs than predicted and 90.4 tonnes of CO2 less per annum. These savings arise solely from the design of the building fabric itself which should not require replacement or alteration during the whole of its expected 40-year life.

Arkansas: Lawmakers Enact Sentencing Reform Measures, Reduce Pot Possession Penalties

Specific to marijuana law enforcement, the measure amends cannabis penalties so that the possession of up to four ounces of pot is a criminal misdemeanor, punishable by up to one-year in jail and a $1,000 fine. For first-time offenders, the new law states, “[T]he court, without entering a judgment of guilt and with the consent of the defendant, may defer further proceedings and place the defendant on probation for a period of not less than one year.”
Under the previous law, the possession of any amount of cannabis above one ounce was a felony offense punishable by between four and ten years imprisonment and a $25,000 fine.
The new law additionally reduces criminal penalties for the possession of small quantities of marijuana ‘with the intent to deliver’ from a felony offense to a misdemeanor. The law also reduces subsequent marijuana possession offenses from felonies to misdemeanors. Previously, second and third pot possession offenses were categorized as felonies.
Defendants found guilty of violating the state’s marijuana laws will still be subject to the loss of their driver’s license for six-months.
