Congressional Candidate Steven Wilson celebrates Hemp History week with American Innovators and Visionaries, Part Two

BY Missouri Statesman

Westphalia, MO—6-12-12—This past week from June 4th until June 10th was the 3rd annual Hemp History week.  It is now a tradition for a small but growing number of Americans.  Its goal is to educate people around the world about what industrial hemp can do for all people.
In 1900 at the Paris Worlds Fair Rudolph Diesel introduced a new engine to the spectators.  To their amazement, the engine block did not run on petroleum.  The engine block ran on peanut oil.  Rudolph Diesel actually built the engine to run off of seed oils like that of vegetable and hemp.
In 1941 Henry Ford introduced a new car to those interested in American innovation.  The car had been built on his large estate and had been named “the car which grew from the soil”.  The car was built from industrial hemp.  The engine ran off hemp diesel and the car parts made from hemp fiber materials.  The car body itself was ten times harder than steel and weighed 2/3 less than steel.  Henry Ford believed in the safety of hemp fiber board so much he let a sledge hammer test his theory.  The sledge hammer lost.

Company Uses Hemp To Help Build Homes, Despite Costly Regulations

Reporting Bill Hudson

PRESCOTT, Wis. (WCCO) – Chances are pretty good that if somebody asks you about hemp, your first thoughts might land on the weed that gets rolled into joints. And that’s the unfortunate reality plaguing proponents who seek to strip federal regulations on industrial grade hemp.
“You don’t want to tamp too much or we’re going to lose our insulation properties,” said Ken Anderson as he oversaw the installation of a cement-like hemp mixture into a wall cavity. Anderson’s company, Original Green Distribution, instructed builders Tuesday on the correct use of its product, HempStone. It is a breathable material made of hemp fibers and lime that Anderson sees as a safer and more efficient alternative to conventional building materials.
“Not only does it have great R-value , it also has thermal mass, which will then capture heat and bring it in when it’s cooler in the house and also transfer heat through the house,” Anderson said.

Meghan McCain has officially gone green – as in, marijuana green.
During an appearance on Tuesday’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno, McCain discussed her new book, America, You Sexy Bitch, which includes a section about her advocating for the legalization of pot.
“I was living in Los Angeles very briefly last year, and I was shocked at how people here smoke weed the way people in New York pour wine,” she said. “Once I started doing research onto the economic benefits for our country by decriminalizing marijuana, I decided to come out publicly in support of it.”

Hemp industry thrives amid boom in natural foods

Andrew S. Ross

David Bronner, CEO of Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soap, attends a hemp rally in Washington.
Ten years ago, John Roulac was fighting the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration over a banned shipment of hemp seeds he needed for his embryonic health food business in Sebastopol.
This week, Roulac is moving into a 200,000-square-foot building in Point Richmond to accommodate his fast-growing company, Nutiva, which sells hemp-infused protein powder, shakes and seeds, plus non-hemp coconut oil and chia seeds.

Boulder County District Attorney Stan Garnett dished his views on Colorado’s medical marijuana laws to CBS’s “60 Minutes” on Monday after the television newsmagazine sent a crew to town to interview the prosecutor for an upcoming segment.
“My emphasis is always public safety,” Garnett said in an interview prior to Monday’s taping. “I don’t see the public safety benefit in prosecuting law-abiding dispensaries or making low-level marijuana cases much of a priority.”
Garnett — who was interviewed by “60 Minutes” correspondent Steve Kroft in a Boulder courtroom — said he is under the impression the segment will be about the business of medical marijuana in Colorado, and that it also will include interviews with dispensary owners. He said he expects the segment to air in the fall.

Second Medical Marijuana Patient Denied Transplant By Cedars-Sinai In The Last Year

medical marijuana saves lives
Posted by

Patient advocacy group Americans for Safe Access (ASA) recently discovered that a second patient at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has been denied a transplant in the past year because of their medical marijuana use. In response, ASA sent a letter today to the Cedars-Sinai Transplant Center on behalf of Toni Trujillo, a qualified medical marijuana patient who was removed from the kidney transplant list earlier this year. Trujillo has had kidney problems for most of her life and has been on dialysis for the past 5 years, ever since an existing kidney transplant began failing. The letter urges the world-renowned hospital to promptly re-list Trujillo and change its policy with regard to medical marijuana.
Trujillo came to California 2 years ago from Pennsylvania to take advantage of the specialized treatment offered by Cedars. When she began treatment at Cedars, Trujillo explained to her physicians that she was using medical marijuana as an appetite stimulant in order to increase her protein levels, a critical need for dialysis patients. Getting no push-back from Cedars on her medical marijuana use, Trujillo continued while waiting for her transplant. Then, in April, after being on a waiting list for 6 years, Trujillo was told over the phone that she had been de-listed because her medical marijuana use was considered “substance abuse.” She was never sent a formal de-listing letter, confirming her status.

Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soap CEO Has Hemp Protest Cut Short By Police With Power Saw

“The industrial hemp plants I am harvesting and processing into oil cannot produce a high of any kind, but according to the Obama administration, I’m in possession of approximately 10 pounds of marijuana,” said Bronner. “President Obama’s U.S. attorney who handles drug cases in Washington, D.C., will not be able to prove my hemp has any more drug value than a poppyseed bagel.”

Director Oliver Stone Smokes A Joint on the Cover of HIGH TIMES

-

According to Stone: “[Savages] was a chance for me to get back into another side of myself, which is still anarchic and rebellious… Certainly if you appreciate California weed, which I have for many years, you’ll realize that we’re somewhat close to the money when we say that, California has surpassed Thailand, Jamaica, South Sudan, and certainly Mexico as the king and queen of quality weed.  I’m thinking myself of getting into the business, although I suspect there’d be a lot of stress with the Feds changing the rules all the time. Those bastards.”
