Study Accidentally Finds Chemotherapy Makes Cancer Far Worse

hospitalblur5 235x147 Woops! Study Accidentally Finds Chemotherapy Makes Cancer Far Worse
A team of researchers looking into why cancer cells are so resilient accidentally stumbled upon a far more important discovery. While conducting their research, the team discovered that chemotherapy actually heavily damages healthy cells and subsequently triggers them to release a protein that sustains and fuels tumor growth. Beyond that, it even makes the tumor highly resistant to future treatment.
Reporting their findings in the journal Nature Medicine, the scientists report that the findings were ‘completely unexpected’. Finding evidence of significant DNA damage when examining the effects of chemotherapy on tissue derived from men with prostate cancer, the writings are a big slap in the face to mainstream medical organizations who have been pushing chemotherapy as the only option to cancer patients for years.
The news comes after it was previously ousted by similarly-breaking research that expensive cancer drugs not only fail to treat tumors, but actually make them far worse. The cancer drugs were found to make tumors ‘metasize’ and grow massively in size after consumption. As a result, the drugs killed the patients more quickly.

The Dope On Cannabis Cuisine

By: CBS NEWS

The effects of eating marijuana are said to be gentler and longer-lasting than smoking, and we imagine more than a few troublesome family members might benefit from a bowl of Scott’s pumpkin bisque this Thursday.
“It’s an amazing way to get through Thanksgiving,” James laughed. “For families that don’t love and hug and embrace each other, this is an amazing way to make that happen. It’s usually a very joyous occasion and everybody tends to leave full and happy.”
“And no leftovers!” added Durrah.

Texas Reads : You won’t get bored reading singers musings from the road

By Glenn Dromgoole

Willie Nelson’s new book of musings from the road doesn’t have a table of contents. It’s more like a table of curious smorgasbord treats. You don’t know what’s coming next, but it certainly won’t be boring.
I was surprised when I opened my review copy of “Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die” (William Morrow, $22.99 hardcover, 192 pages) to find the front page autographed, accompanied by a hand-drawn self-portrait by Willie himself! I called the publicist to thank her, only to find out that all the books are like that. He illustrated and signed a master — at the front and also at the back, which is scrawled simply “The End.”
In between are all kinds of observations — or maybe ramblings — from Willie, the icon of Texas music, on everything from music to marijuana to religion to politics to marijuana to the environment to family to life to farming to, did I mention, marijuana. If that isn’t enough, the foreword was written by none other than Kinky Friedman.
On smoking: “Cigarettes killed my mother, father, stepfather, stepmother, and half my family, and you can still buy them anywhere. If you make pot legal, and tax it and regulate it like alcohol and tobacco, you will stop the dealing on the borders and save thousands of lives.”

Thanksgiving Recipe Twists

Nicole La Placa is a certified health coach and personal cook and uses hemp milk and protein powders in many of her baking recipes.
“I prefer hemp products over dairy and all-purpose flour because hemp is higher in protein,” she said. Hemp also is non GMO, unrefined and has a healthy balance of anti-inflammatory Omega 3s, 6s, and 9s.
The chocolate hemp oat recipe is popular with fitness enthusiasts and health-conscious people because of the high protein, anti-inflammatory properties of the hemp, she said.

Too high? Medical marijuana dispensing machine company’s stock increases 3,000%

Too high? Medical marijuana dispensing machine company’s stock increases 3,000%
It’s rare for publicly traded companies to be concerned when its stock price gets a dramatic increase, but that’s exactly what happened to MedBox earlier this week.
MedBox produces vending machines used in hospitals, pharmacies, doctor’s offices, and “alternative medicine clinics,” which is code for medical marijuana dispensaries. The machines use a pre-registered biometric scan to identify authorized users, track and restrict drug usage, and deliver secure reports about those that use it. The company, which was awarded a U.S. patent on its “herb” dispensing machines, has generated over $8 million in revenue since launching in 2010.
And due in part to voters in Washington and Colorado legalizing marijuana for recreational use, MedBox’s stock experienced quite a dramatic boost. The company’s shares went from $4 on Monday to $215 by the end of the week, which prompted MedBox execs to lower investor enthusiasm, reports Marketwatch.

FRANKFORT, KY (11/17/12) – The Kentucky Industrial Hemp Commission received a $100,000 infusion during its initial meeting today in Frankfort.
David Bronner, CEO of Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps, and U.S. Sen. Rand Paul’s political action committee each committed $50,000 to the operation of the commission, which met for the first time after a 10-year hiatus. Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner James Comer was unanimously elected chairman.
“This is a historic day,” Commissioner Comer said. “This is an exciting time to be a part of agriculture. This is an important issue, and hopefully this will make a difference that will affect future farmers for years to come.”

Valley Voice: Medical marijuana users are not your average stoners

Written by Ben McCall

Ben McCall
I have a marijuana plant growing nicely in my office. I purchased it from the marijuana dispensary across the street from my senior community. I’ve never bothered with marijuana before. Tried it once in college and decided back then that a cold beer was a better deal. But time and glaucoma have finally taken its toll.
I got the idea of trying medical marijuana from a neighbor who gave me the name of an doctor that would issue the proper legalizing paperwork.
My neighbor is a sparkling petite woman of 80, full of energy and enthusiasm for life. “I used to take seven prescription drugs every day, but gave them all up for my grass cookie,” she chirped enthusiastically when I inquired about her obvious well-being. “I was always tired and listless, even taking drugs to counteract the side-effects of other drugs. Now I feel wonderful.” I doubted her doctor would approve, but her vivaciousness confirmed something positive was on her side of life.

Legalize Marijuana: Why This Bible Thumper Defends Legalization in Washington and Oregon

James Street
legalize, marijuana, why, this, bible, thumper, defends, legalization, in, washington, and, oregon,

The world didn’t end last Wednesday. Many Christians believed it would, or something, though thankfully Obama’s re-election reminded them that God is still on the throne — though why born-again Christians wouldn’t remember that all the time is beyond me. Regardless, not everything that happened on Election Day was negative.
Sure, Obama got re-elected instead of his ideological twin. And yeah, Michele Bachmann and Allen West got re-elected. However, Washington State and Colorado both passed monumental, if not perfect, bills that really put a stick in the eye of the federal government.
They legalized marijuana. And not for glaucoma or spinal injuries; for recreational use.
And this born-again, King James Bible believing, Independent, Fundamental Baptist is excited about it.
