A stockbroker with a crippling bone disease who has smoked more than 130,000 joints in his lifetime credits the relaxing drug for his long life.
Irvin Rosenfeld, 60, says he would not be alive if he hadn’t been issued with 12 daily government-supplied marijuana cigarettes for more than 30 years, for the treatment of the rare bone disorder, multiple congenital cartilaginous exostosis.
Mr Rosenfeld, from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is the longest surviving patient to be assigned to the federal medical cannabis program, which began during the HIV epidemic in the 1970s, and is sharing his experience with lawmakers in a push to get it legalised.

Washington D.C. is considering a rule that would require medical marijuana dispensaries to subsidize the cost of the drug for poor patients.  The rule would require that dispensaries put aside 2% of their income to help lower the price of the drug for the needy.

How to Make Cannamilk

How to Make Cannamilk - Recipe, Source: http://onesmartbrownie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Milk-pot.png

It occurred to me while writing another recipe (that called for cannamilk) for our Great Recipes While High series that we don’t have a recipe for cannamilk! In professional kitchens we have what we refer to as “mother” sauces. A mother sauce is a sauce (like marinara, demi-glace, béchamel, etc.) that you use as a base ingredient in many other dishes. Cannamilk could be considered a “mother sauce” in the world of edible cannabis as it really can be substituted into any recipe that calls for milk, making it versatile like cannabutter orcannaoil.

Seeds sown for world’s first hemp industrial base

LAURA RICHARDS
Greg Flavall.

Fairfax NZ – HEMPING IT UP: New Zealand hemp advocate Greg Flavall stands in a field of hemp overseas showing how tall the plant can grow.
Hemp Technologies’ Gregory Flavall, based in Taranaki, would like to see the world’s first hemp industrial village located in his home province.
Originally from Stratford, Flavall has brought his knowledge and expertise of the hemp industry to Taranaki from the United States and the United Kingdom where he learned first-hand about processing hemp for a variety of uses.
With the tag line of ”Food, Fuel, Shelter, Jobs – Hemp is Now!,” Flavall said Hemp Technologies would like to help farmers in Taranaki realise better income and employ people to process hemp.
”Maize growers are looking for alternatives because maize beats the crap out of the earth while hemp does not. Hemp is a replenishing plant for the earth, like lucerne or alfalfa as we call it. It re-nitrogenises the soil after harvest, and it’s good at aerating soil, and is a break crop for other crops.”

Mixed Praise for New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s Conditional Veto

Mixed Praise for New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s Conditional Veto

On Friday, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie made a surprising decision in his conditional veto of S2842, a bill intended to ease medical marijuana restrictions for children.
The bill, introduced by Assemblywoman Linda Stender earlier this year, sought to lift New Jersey’s ban on edible cannabis, eliminate the three-strain limit for dispensaries, and allow minors to get medical marijuana cards with the recommendation of a single doctor rather than three.
Politicians and activists alike had predicted a conditional veto, and as expected, Christie struck the provision for a single prescribing doctor.
But the other part of Christie’s veto – amending the bill to allow edibles only for minors and not for adults – was met with shock and disbelief from advocates.
“Restricting oral preparations of medicinal cannabis to pediatric patients only is irrational,” said Dr. Sunil Aggarwal, a leader in the field of medical cannabis research. “Adult patients will have to make oral preparations themselves with the limited amount of herbal medicinal cannabis they are allowed to procure from New Jersey dispensaries.”
