Charles Barkley Takes on Nancy Grace on Pot Use: It Just Made Me ‘Giggle and Eat Potato Chips’
by Matt Wilstein
Appearing on HLN Wednesday afternoon, former NBA star Charles Barkley challenged Nancy Grace’s suggestion that all marijuana users are just “fat and lazy.” In fact, we can now add Barkley to the list of pot smokers who managed to make something of themselves despite experimenting with the drug.
“I probably smoked pot ten times in my life,” Barkley said, making sure to stress that it was when he was a “much younger” man. “It didn’t do anything but make me want to eat potato chips.”
Asked if this means Grace was right that marijuana makes people “fat,” Barkley said there were many more factors that contributed to his weight issues over the years. “It didn’t do anything for me,” he said. “It made me giggle and want to eat potato chips.”

Hemp growers cooperatives’ report touts crop’s benefits to coal
BY JANET PATTON
“It’s about stimulating the hemp economy,” said David Hadland, president of the Kentucky Hemp Growers Cooperative Association and a member of the Kentucky Industrial Hemp Commission. “The public needs to know that hemp is viable, and that hemp is not marijuana. This is just another example of its use.”
The cooperatives advocate blending dry hemp “hurds” with Appalachian high-sulphur coal to reduce emissions at power plants.

In light of the legalization of marijuana in Colorado, local restaurant Hapa Sushi joined forces with TDA_Boulder to kickstart a new promotional campaign. The Future Of Legal Weed Is Bright. Here’s Where It’s Headed Next
The Huffington Post | By Nick Wing
After a year of preparation, Colorado opened its doors to the legal marijuana business last week, serving thousands of customers and racking up more than $5 million in taxed and regulated sales in just seven days. It was a promising sign that recreational marijuana could be a lucrative industry for other states interested in scaling back harsh anti-pot laws and listening to voters, who have increasingly shown support for legalizing the drug.
(Scroll down to see if your state is likely to be one of the next to legalize.)
Taxed and regulated marijuana is already coming to Washington state, which along with Colorado passed a legalization measure at the polls during the 2012 general election. And now that the Justice Department set a precedent last year by allowing these first legal pot laws to go into effect, marijuana policy reformers in other states are looking more intently at the best way to proceed.
