As a number of clinical studies are conducted to better understand the medicinal benefits of cannabis on various conditions, an increasing amount of evidence is coming forward to show the plant’s promising benefits on neurological disorders. From Alzheimer’s to Huntington’s disease, cannabis has been found to halt and even reverse the damage caused by such conditions. Now, recent studies have found that cannabis also holds the potential to put an end to senile dementia. Here we will be taking a closer look at senile dementia and the role that cannabis may play in the future of medicine for the condition.

Amarillo family wants medical cannabis for son with Crohn’s disease

At 13 years old, Andrew Hayes weighs just 70 lbs. His mother says he has good and bad days, but his chronic illness has not improved overall.
Andrew was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease about four years ago. He has missed three years of school and his mother says he has also missed out on having a normal 13-year-old life.
“Crohn’s disease is an irritable bowel disease that attacks the immune system and the symptoms include severe diarrhea, extreme fatigue, weight loss,” said Holly Hayes, Andrew’s mother.
Holly says the symptoms of Crohn’s diseas go on. In the last four years, Andrew has taken different pills and prescription medicines that give him side affects that make his illness worse.
Holly says it is a financial burden as well. She lost her job caring for him as a single mother.
“About three years ago I decided to start researching the benefits of medical marijuana and for Crohn’s disease, there are numerous benefits,” said Holly.
She believes medicinal cannabis would help her son, but it is not legal in Texas.

Girl, 11, suing to legalize medical cannabis

An 11-year-old North Texas girl who had to flee to Colorado is now suing U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the Drug Enforcement Administration to legalize medical cannabis.
“I just want kids like me to be able to do what normal kids are able to do,” said Alexis Bortell in a Skype interview with WFAA from her new home in Colorado.

Faurecia turns to hemp to reduce reliance on plastic parts

As suppliers experiment with new materials to cut vehicle weight and reduce their environmental footprints, French interiors supplier Faurecia has turned to plant materials to do both.
Using a type of hemp, Faurecia is experimenting with producing injection-molded auto parts that reduce its reliance on plastics.

Marijuana Works As An Exit Drug From Pain Medications

Zahra Abbas has epilepsy and went through seizures multiple times a day throughout her life, despite taking four different prescriptions. A few years ago she tried medical cannabis to combat the seizures on the advice of her doctor. She had never tried marijuana before, but it didn’t take long to see results.
Three days of cannabis and her seizures had stopped completely.

Idaho Basecamp builds first public hemp building in U.S.


 
Ketchum and Sun Valley can add another item to their list of accolades, now that the area plays host to the first public facility in the United States made of hemp.
Idaho Base Camp, a nonprofit organization formed in 2014, has finished construction of its Borah Basin Building, located at its headquarters on the other side of Trail Creek Pass, northeast of Ketchum and Sun Valley.
