Hemp litter pellets are both kitty-friendly and biodegradable. With a high absorption rate, paws stay cleaner and return visits have been noted through testing in other countries. Hemp is also great at trapping odors and lasts much longer than alternative natural litters. Because hemp is grown without pesticides, hemp kitty litter makes an excellent compost material.

Hemp Fuel Pellets: A Great Alternative for Heating

By Kathy Garton

hemp-fuel-pellets-a-great-alternative-to-heating

The winter season is quickly approaching and with it, the need for a reliable heat source. Wood pellet stoves are becoming popular because of the reduced cost compared to propane, electricity and heating fuel. Wood is also a renewable resource. However, the quality of wood makes a big difference. Issues like softwood, hardwood and whether or not there is bark included in the pellets can make a huge difference in the type of heat provided and the amount of ash produced.
This is where hemp fuel pellets come in. Hemp pellets produce around 2% ash and can be used in a large range of pellet burners currently on the market today. Hemp is less corrosive to burn than wood pellets, creates less ash, and always has the same high quality as what you find in premium grade wood pellets. This product comes from the shiv of the hemp stalk and has no possibility of including any additional material that can lead to a lower grade of quality.

Pets on Pot: The Newest Customer Base for Medical Marijuana

By

When Lisa Mastramico needed relief for her ailing tabby, Little Kitty, she turned to an unlikely source: marijuana.

At 12 years old, the cat had arthritis. For a long while she spent her days hiding in a closet, where Ms. Mastramico had built her a bed of plush blankets. After trying various supplements that proved ineffectual, she went to a meeting for Women Grow, an industry group for cannabis entrepreneurs.

She was not sold on the idea right away. “My concern was that it’s not my place to get my cat high,” said Ms. Mastramico, the director of a public access television network in Long Beach, Calif.

But with Little Kitty becoming increasingly isolated, it was time to give it a try. She got a medical marijuana card and purchased two edible oils made for pets and derived from cannabis that she squirts into her pet’s mouth.

Damian Marley has announced that he, in partnership with Ocean Grown Extracts, is converting a former 77,000 square foot California State prison into a cannabis grow space that will cultivate medical marijuana for state dispensaries.
“Many people sacrificed so much for the herb over the years who got locked up,” says Marley, 38, noting the poetic justice of turning a prison that once housed non-violent drug offenders into a cannabis cultivation facility. “If this [venture] helps people and it’s used for medicinal purposes and inspires people, it’s a success.”

With her own official Twitter account and a town in Tottori Prefecturebehind her, Japan’s first ever cannabis character comes dressed as apink-haired shrine maiden.

Ever since Japan’s first lady Akie Abe spoke out in support of reviving the country’s hemp culture in an interview last year, the topic of cannabis cultivation has become a hot topic in Japan. While marijuana and hemp can be produced from the cannabis plant, the country’s Cannabis Control Law strictly bans the purchase, cultivation, and trade of marijuana. However, a very small number of legal hemp farms exist in Japan, and with the Prime Minister’s wife herself saying she’s considered applying for a permit to grow hemp, mainstream use of hemp products looks set to grow throughout the country.

The NFL continues an authoritarian stance on marijuana use while team doctors still dole out powerful and addictive painkillers

“The medicine being pumped into these guys is just killing people,” Nate Jackson says. “NFL owners think marijuana is something players do to get around the system, not knowing that it’s actually allowing them to be in the system. It’s allowing them to deal with the rigors of the game.”

Confession: We got lost in a hemp maze.
Yup. We spent a Sunday afternoon meandering through a tall, waving forest of industrial hemp and got lost, briefly. But, it’s all good, because we eventually got out and had our camera on us to capture the maze in all of its heavenly hemp glory.
Located an hour outside of Nashville in Chapel Hill, the one-acre hemp maze was recently opened up to the public thanks to Tennessee Hemp Industries Association.

Saskatchewan hemp growers and processors have been working to meet the exporting demand for the multi-use crop.
Hemp is used in all kinds of products from paper to clothing but has found its calling for its use in nutrition and supplements.
The market has been expanding in Europe and Asia and thanks to some hemp infomercials in South Korea, the product has made its way to the store shelves in various forms.
