These famous athletes are advocating for marijuana as a workout tool

By Des Bieler

The District recently marked the first anniversary of its legalization of recreational marijuana. And as the city is home to so many fitness-minded people, it’s likely that at least a few of them are wondering whether it makes sense, or whether it’s even safe, to incorporate pot into their exercise regimens.

Given the long-standing illegality of marijuana, there is not a large body of evidence about its effects on the human body. However, I spoke with a professional athlete who offered his own large body as testimony to the benefits of engaging in physical activity while stoned.

Oregon Removes Residency Obstacles for Participation in Legal Cannabis

BY

Oregon has officially eased the barriers for entry for businesses looking to get involved in the world of legal weed. Prior to yesterday, Oregon required all applicant-holders to have lived in the state of Oregon for at least two years. After a long journey, Gov. Kate Brown signed to officially remove the two-year residency requirement for applicants. This opens many doors for out-of-state producers, processors and retailers who previously had overlooked Oregon. The Beaver state is now viewed as a prosperous opportunity to interested investors.

Old Colorado Bureau of Investigation Office Becoming Dispensary

The front door of what will become a hemp and CBD dispensary.
It’s a change that neatly symbolizes how times have changed in Colorado.
Two Pueblo companies are in the process of opening what’s described as the “first hemp/CBD dispensary” in the community.
And the site’s operation was once home to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

Something is happening in the hemp space… something big

Chris Parry, Stockhouse.com

And I think I know who’s going to benefit.
For years, those in the hemp world have been saying ‘any day now’ and pointing to big stockpiles of industrial hemp that they swore was going to be plastics, paper, clothing, homes, bridges, space shuttles…
Of course, that promise has, to this point, been somewhat unfulfilled. In fact, Canadian hemp fields that had in previous years been contracted to health food companies like Manitoba Harvest are, this year, unsigned.
Which isn’t to say people don’t want hemp products. They really do. It’s just that corporations aren’t pressed into developing them by a surging market desire they can’t resist. You’ll struggle to find hemp 2x4s at Home Depot. You don’t see a lot of hemp jackets at Aritizia. Where you have found it, to this point, is at the supermarket, and in restaurants, where the promise of hemp and its nutritional benefits is being largely fulfilled.
Edible hemp products, mainly hemp seed or as some call them, hemp hearts, are rich in protein, omegas and fibre and are found in just about every grocery store now. Hemp protein is finding its way into the sport market and hemp oil is seeing a variety of uses. In fact, when I owned a restaurant a few years back, they were a popular addition to seemingly every salad we sold, even at a ridiculous mark up. There’s some in my kitchen pantry right now – and more in the office kitchen at Stockhouse.
Hemp protein is not just good for you…it’s great for you. It has the most digestible protein of any plant on earth.
And, it turns out, Korea just got the memo. Stay with me here because I’m building to something.

3Dom Releases Entwined: Hemp Filament!

by

It seems like every day a presidential candidate is declaring that they will make America great again. But what does that really mean? What really made America great? Well, one of the things that made America great was hemp. That’s right, hemp, the much maligned cousin of marijuana. According to the North American Industrial Hemp Council (NAIHC), both George Washington and Thomas Jefferson grew hemp. Benjamin Franklin used hemp in one of his mills, and Jefferson even drafted the Declaration of Independence on hemp paper. It doesn’t get more American than that.
Hemp was used to create everything from paper to rope to sails and clothing to fuel, and has been used as aconstruction material. 3D printing innovators have been experimenting with producing hemp filament. As previously reported, the Italian company Kanesis has been experimenting with a hemp bioplastic filament, as has Brooklyn-based Matter Lab. Today there’s some great news for hemp aficionados: 3Dom has just announced their newest offering, a hemp filament called Entwined.

See Inside the Himalayan Villages That Grow Cannabis

In the Himalayas of India, small villages thrive by growing cannabis.
This is one of them. The village, perched on a mountain at 9,000 feet (2,700 meters), is only reachable on foot. The hike takes three hours. Villagers say it’s been a good season so far—police have only shown up to cut plants twice. But those plants are a drop in the ocean. Ganja grows wild in the Indian Himalayas, and it’s nearly impossible to curb its illegal cultivation.

Take a weed break at work. It’s allowed!

At most offices in America, smoking a joint during your lunch break or eating cannabis-laced brownies at your desk would land you in HR.
But in some states, not only won’t you be punished — you might be rewarded.
Kyle Sherman and Chase Wiseman cofounded Flowhub, which provides software for the cannabis industry, in 2015. The Denver-based startup has been a weed-friendly workplace from day one.
“Our philosophy at Flowhub is to get s*** done,” said Sherman. “If it helps our employees get work done, then we don’t care if they consume at work.”
